I have loved dogs since I can remember, I grew up with dogs throughout my whole childhood, dogs and all animals have always been a huge passion of mine. My desire to work with dogs on a professional level all started 10 years ago when we brought home two adorable littermate puppies. They’re the most wonderful dogs, but they developed some adolescent behaviours we were unsure on how to fix, so I started doing some research. The rest is history…Phoenix K9 Training was founded in 2015, and has since grown immensely over the past 7 years. I spent my first three years as a dog walker, trying to gain as much hands on experience as possible and learn as much as I could. When I wasn’t dog walking, I was shadowing other trainers around the country, volunteering for other trainers, I completed several online animal behaviour courses, and attended several in person training seminars and workshops, both in the UK and internationally. My goal from the beginning has always been to help dog owners enjoy life with their dogs in every aspect, with good training comes good dogs, and with good dogs, comes happy owners.

We are based in Scottsdale, Arizona but we cover all of the surrounding ares as well. In home lessons are available in Scottsdale, Phoenix, Mesa, and the surrounding areas. If you live further away, I invite you to travel to me in Scottsdale for reoccurring private lessons.

Phoenix K9 Training was established in 2015 and our goal as a company has always been to empower dog owners through great direction and training. Our job is to transfer our knowledge to you in a thoughtful way that always makes sense regardless of the behavioural issue. We specialise in working breeds, and take pride in our ability to teach dog owners how to live with their dogs in harmony, by assuring they understand the importance of biological fulfilment and the role that plays in the relationship you have with your dog. Spending a lot of time focusing on foundations and trusting the process means results are guaranteed with our approach to dog training and behaviour modification.

PRIVATE TRAINING LESSONS

1-2-1 Training Sessions are individually tailored to you & your dog.

I run these lessons from the comfort of your home during the summer months so that we can escape the heat, during the cooler months we will meet at a local park to train in an environment with distractions.

Private lessons are either one or two hours and completely customised to your dogs behaviour and your ‘wish list’ of improvements you’d like to see in your dog.

DOG WALKING

We are happy to be able to offer you a range of different dog walking services. We offer solo walks, group walks, and training walks!

Solo walks are as they sound, individual walks for your dog with one of our trainers, no other dogs will be accompanying your dog on these walks. These are best suited for young puppies, senior dogs, and dogs who don’t enjoy the company of other dogs or who are currently going through training to help them with their reactivity towards other dogs.

RESIDENTIAL TRAINING

Residential Training is like boot camp for your dog, while they also go on a very exciting holiday. Your dog will come and stay in one of our trainers homes and be looked after as well as our own dogs. We keep all of our residential training dogs in our homes for one very important reason, we want it to feel like a home away from home for them instead of a sterile kennel environment.

Your dog must have completed 3 private lessons with us prior to being enrolled in our intensive training programme, there are a few pre-requisites that all dogs must have under their belt before being ready for the more intensive training.

This is a great option for dogs who are currently struggling with a serious behavioural issue, foundational training for young puppies, off leash training, advanced obedience training and of course, the basics.

GROUP CLASSES

Here at Phoenix K9 Training we are lucky enough to be able to offer you 2 different locations for our weekend Dog Neutrality Classes. These classes are 1 hour long on weekend mornings and we work on the following: Heelwork, Sit & Down stays, Dog & Human Neutrality, Play, Advanced Obedience, Recall, Communication, and most importantly we have fun! We also offer URBAN group classes where we take the dogs to a busy public environment such as a mall, a pet shop or a dog friendly public environment, and we train there!

VIRTUAL LESSONS

Virtual lessons are a great alternative to in person lessons for those of you who can’t come and work with us in person in Phoenix.

We can cover a huge range of topics via our virtual lessons, from puppy training to general obedience, scentwork training, behavior modification, Ecollar Conditioning from start to finish and lots more. The only topics we do not cover via virtual learning are aggression based cases.

SCENTWORK TRAINING

Ches is a fully qualified scentwork instructor and created Phoenix K9 Detection Dogs in 2023. Scentwork is a fantastic way to reduce your dog’s stress levels, give them an outlet

for their sniffing desires, and teach them a very cool new skill! Scentwork is suitable for all dogs.

Each level runs over the course of 6 weeks, with a 1 hour class per week. After completing the Beginner level you’ll be invited to join Intermediate classes, followed by Advanced and Elite!

Scentwork is a fun activity for all dogs, there is no age limit or breed restrictions, all dogs can excel at this activity. Phoenix K9 Detection Dogs is here to give you a chance to see how powerful your dogs noses are, watch them learn how to find the tiniest hidden scents in tricky environments, and then use your dogs new sniffing skills to teach them how to find things like truffles, your keys or your phone!

When you choose to work with our team, you are signing up for a lifetime of support, help, and guidance. We make an effort to create relationships with all of our clients because when dog training gets hard, you need your support system there to boost your confidence and help you work through hard times. Dog training isn’t always easy!

Our methods

Our priority in all cases is to create a beautiful, harmonious relationship between you and your dog; one built on trust, reliability, communication and a clear understanding of each other. Once we have relationship everything else starts to slot into place quite nicely.

Our training methods vary based on each dog we are working with as every dog needs a different, personalised approach to training. We strive to use the least intrusive methods possible in all scenarios, and we always prioritise play skills, training with food, interactive games between the dog and handler, and communication skills.

PAYMENT PLANS

The Phoenix K9 Mentorship Program is suited to any aspiring dog trainers, current dog trainers keen to keep learning and developing, dog walkers looking to expand on their skills, and dog owners who are extremely passionate and interested in learning more about their own dogs and dog behaviour. The program is 6 months long, and covers all things dog training, students also get the opportunity to chat with some very well known international guest speakers within the industry throughout the program. The PHX K9 Mentorship Program is a combination of virtual learning and in person training at the Mentorship meet up days. My program is renowned for creating a supportive, family-like environment between the students, most of which become extremely good friends during the Mentorship Program.
